RESOURCES

for Living With Rare Disease

Living with a rare disease can feel isolating and overwhelming. However, the Pfizer Patient Affairs Liaison (PAL) team has put together a variety of resources that can be accessed anytime for more information.

GHDGrowth Hormone Deficiency (GHD)

GHD is a rare disorder in which the pituitary gland does not secrete enough growth hormone.

There are three types of GHD:

  • Congenital GHD, which is present from birth
  • Acquired GHD, which can be caused by trauma, infection, radiation therapy, or brain tumors
  • Idiopathic GHD, where no known cause can be identified

Because the pituitary gland doesn’t secrete enough of the hormone that causes growth, patients’ height will be affected, and puberty delayed. Without treatment, GHD can cause growth failure, short height in adulthood, and other health problems.
